3 easy steps to convince website visitors to buy everytime

Fay Roe

Look into my eyes. Look into my eyes. How do you convince visitors to your website to buy your products? Hypnosis? Bribery? Threats of violence? Of course not. And there are no steps, no magic tricks, and no shortcuts to convince visitors to put their hands anywhere near their wallets to buy from you.

Never pay a cent to anyone who tells you otherwise.

The title of this article is purely for dramatic effect, click bait. Digital Presence, however, is sharing with you 3 steps how to help visitors convince themselves to become customers.

And this is the crux of digital marketing as we know it. Content marketing is about helping people realise they need your product or services.

#1 Create an ideal target buyer persona

The first step of any digital marketing campaign is to identify the target audience; however, a target buyer persona is more specific. Demographics can be misleading. Donald Trump is a white male born in 1946, but so too was Freddie Mercury; you would market to them in very different ways.

Psychographic factors: Lifestyle, values, interests, and personality traits to help you understand your target customer's motivations and behaviours.

Purchasing behaviour: Consider the customer's purchasing habits, such as their buying frequency, preferred channels, and decision-making process.

Pain points and needs: Identify the customer's pain points and needs, and how your product or service can help solve their problem.

Identifying an ideal target buyer persona enables you to develop a website and content they understand, they can relate to, and they trust.

#2 Custom website design

Businesses sometimes have websites to meet their commercial needs, rather than flipping the coin and developing a website to meet the customers’ needs. A fast-loading website design is the first impression website visitors have of a business. The second? Easily navigated educational and informative content to give visitors the opportunity to make informed decisions:

  • Highlight the benefits of your product/service using persuasive language to convince visitors to make a purchase.
  • Use images and videos to show your product/service in use, demonstrating its value to potential customers.
  • Encourage visitors to act now by creating a sense of urgency through limited-time offers or stock warnings.
  • Encourage visitors to take action by providing clear and specific instructions on what they should do next with clear call-to-action (CTA).
  • Make it easy for visitors to find what they’re looking for and to move smoothly through the buying process.

#3 Be honest and transparent

One of the big concerns people have about buying products or services online is being scammed. Consumers are naturally on high alert to the potential of being defrauded and ripped off. There are things you can do to help placate the worried:

Highlight security: Display security badges and certifications to build trust with visitors and demonstrate that their information is secure.

Confirm business existence: Create a Google Business Profile while fantastic for local SEO, it also allows consumers to confirm the legitimacy of a business.

Show social proof: Include testimonials, reviews, and customer ratings to build trust and credibility.

An accessible website isn't just a nice-to-have feature - it's essential. At Digital Presence in Christchurch, we believe that designing websites with accessibility in mind creates better experiences for all users, regardless of their abilities. When your website is accessible, you're not only complying with guidelines and regulations but also expanding your reach to a wider audience. Why accessibility matters for your business Did you know that approximately 15% of the global population lives with some form of disability? That's over a billion potential customers who might struggle to use your website if it's not designed with accessibility in mind. Aside from the ethical considerations, accessible web design offers tangible business benefits: Broader audience reach : an accessible website design can be used by everyone, including people with visual, auditory, neurological, and physical impairments. Improved SEO : many accessibility practices align perfectly with SEO best practices, helping your website organically rank higher in search results. Enhanced user experience : features that help users with disabilities often make the experience better for everyone. Legal compliance : many countries already have laws requiring websites to be accessible, so making your website design accessible now reduces the risk of future compliance issues. 7 Accessibility best practices that benefit all users As a leading web design agency in Christchurch, we integrate accessibility into every project we undertake. Let's explore how you can do the same. 1. Optimise colour contrast for better readability Poor colour contrast makes content difficult to read for users with visual impairments, but it affects everyone, especially in challenging lighting conditions like bright sunlight. For example, a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text is recommended. While black text on a white background provides excellent contrast (21:1), using slightly softer combinations reduces eye strain for all users.
